The Union Cabinet on Wednesday affirmed the appropriation of the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act, 1989, an administration representative said.
Instructions the press after a Cabinet meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union clergyman Prakash Javadekar said the move will help build up all the three levels of grassroots-level popular government in Jammu and Kashmir like in different pieces of the nation.
The three-level framework was not accessible in Jammu and Kashmir in the “pre-370 period”, Javadekar stated, alluding to Article 370 of the Constitution that was revoked a year ago. The article gave extraordinary status to the recent province of Jammu and Kashmir.
