South Korean top automaker Hyundai Motor Group’s logistics arm, Hyundai Glovis has announced to secure an exclusive shipping space in the port of Bremerhaven, Germany, Europe’s largest automobile shipping port. Hence becoming the first global shipping company to do so.
According to Hyundai Glovis, it had announced to establish a 100,000 square-meter open storage yard and three berths on Wednesday that are big enough to store around 5,000 cars, in the port of Bremerhaven.
The company mentioned to have signed an agreement with BLG Logistics Group that manages the terminals at the port. Through the deal, it will establish a joint-stock company called BLG Glovis BHV GmbH inn order to build the required infrastructure in Bremerhaven.
Hyundai Glovis mentioned that in the past three years an annual average of 2 million cars, including those of European carmakers such as Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen, and BMW, were imported and exported through the port of Bremerhaven.
While the company’s exclusive shipping space will be located at the Kaiserhafen terminal.

Its non-affiliated sales in 2010 was up to 12 percent of all sales, this was followed by 40 percent, 42 percent, 44 percent and 52 percent in 2016, 2017, 2018, and in 2019 respectively.
According to an official from Hyundai Glovis, they will work to enhance shipping management efficiency through continuous investment in infrastructure. It also plans to continue to gain unrivaled competitiveness in the field of automobile carriers and increase the proportion of non-affiliated sales through an aggressive sales strategy.
