These are the most common words in the 1,159 comments section (starting at 6pm on March 18) for the video “Korea, Wonderland?” published by the Korean Culture and Information Service, a subsidiary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The clip shows ordinary Korean volunteering to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the country. Less than 24 hours after uploading, the video drew more than 170,000 views, 1,100 comments, and 11,000 likes.
Among the comments were “Respect from Bulgaria, I wish I was born in such a society (Georg Skyborn)” and “Even if I’m not a Korean, this video gave me goosebumps … love and respect from India (rough altruism).”
Korea.net’s YouTube channel, the content of which is in English, had more Korean comments than English comments, unlike many other videos. Many Koreans left comments saying how they were touched by the video and expressed a wish that Korea and the world overcome COVID-19 together.
