The US space agency NASA has discovered water on the moon’s surface. This water has been discovered on the lunar surface at the place where direct sunlight falls. According to two studies published on Monday, it is believed that more water may be present on the moon than previously estimated. This discovery will give great power to Space Mission in future. Not only this, it can also be used in fuel production.

Two new studies published on Monday in Nature Astronomy suggested that more water may be on the Moon than our old estimate. It also includes permanent ice present in the polar regions. In previous research, there have been indications of water on scanning the surface, but this research failed to distinguish between water (H2O) and hydroxyl. Hydroxyl is a molecule composed of one hydrogen atom and one atom of oxygen.

However, a new study has found chemical evidence that molecular water exists on the surface of the moon, even in areas where sunlight is directly exposed.

Using the data from the Stratosphere Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (Sophia), researchers scanned the lunar surface at a more precise wavelength than before.

Casey Hannibal, co-author of the Hawaii Institute of Geophysics and Planetology, said researchers believe that the water may be inside glass beads, or any other material that protects it from the outside environment. . Further study will help in finding out where this water came from and how it is stored.

He said, “If we get enough water in many places then we may be able to use it as a resource for human exploration. It can be used as drinking water, oxygen and rocket fuel.
