After a long wait, BMW Motorrad has introduced the updated model of its flagship bike BMW S1000R. Which the company is going to launch in 2021. The new BMW S1000R has been updated as per Euro 5 emission standards. The new bike is 6.5 kg lighter in weight than the current model. The engine, frame and swingarm of the bike have been taken from the company’s RR model. The design has also been significantly updated, with a new body panel and a new LED headlight on the front. The new headlight can now be seen on many BMW roadsters, including the G 310 R and F 900 R bikes.

The new-generation BMW S 1000R gets a 999 cc in-line 4-cylinder engine that makes 162 bhp at 11,000 rpm as well as 114 Nm of peak torque at 9,250 rpm. It has a 6-speed gearbox. BMW also stated that at least 80 Nm of torque is found at 3,000 rpm and between 5,500 and 12,000 rpm, more than 90 per cent. 

The new S 1000 R comes with dynamic traction control, ABS angle with banking angle optimization and three riding modes “Rain”, “Road” and “Dynamic”. The fully configurable “Dynamic Pro” mode is also available with a special series of setting options as part of the “Riding Mode Pro” option. Along with “Riding Modes Pro”, the new S 1000 R also has an “engine brake” function in combination with engine drag torque control and a “power wheel” function. Dynamic brake control as an “Riding Modes Pro” option additionally supports the rider during emergency braking. The bike has a big 6.5-inch TFT display, in which speed, rpm and other information related to the bike are given.
Connect feature has also been provided in the bike, with the help of which the bike can be connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth. Smartphone based navigation is also provided in the instrument console of the bike. BMW is also offering the M Sport model of the S1000R, which gets white, blue and red colors with the optional M package. The new BMW S1000R will be available from May 2021 onwards and may arrive in India in late 2021 or early 2022.
