Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held secret talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Sunday in Saudi Arabia. According to media reports, this was the first trip of the Israeli PM to Saudi Arabia. Israeli Public Broadcaster correspondent Kane said on Monday that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who was visiting Israel last week, was also present during the conversation.
Broadcaster quoted unnamed Israeli officials as Netanyahu and Yossi Cohen, head of the Mossad Gupture Agency, flew to Saudi Arabia on Sunday and met Pompeo and Mohammed bin Salman. Other Israeli media agencies have also reported the meeting. There was no immediate response from Netanyahu’s office regarding the report. The meeting comes after a historic deal with the Gulf of Israel to normalize relations with the UAE and Bahrain. Both of these agreements were signed on the initiative of the outgoing President of America, Donald Trump. The US and Israel have consistently indicated that some other Arab countries are also in favor of building relations with Israel.
